UPDATE (click here)
Dakota Wild Bird Hunts, Inc. is located on our farm, 17 miles northeast of Onida, SD and about an hour north of Pierre, SD. The excellent hunting we offer can be attributed to the improved wildlife habitat. The food plots, trees, and cover here have really helped the birds multiply, as well as numerous deer. There is also about 4,000 acres of CRP (Conservation Reserve Program), along with several windbreaks in our hunting area, all private land.
This is not a preserve. There are no released birds. These are all big, wild birds and we recommend #4 or #5 shot. The wide range of hunting we offer includes pheasant, grouse, partridge, prairie chicken, duck and goose and now Turkey, DEER, and ANTELOPE. Nearly all of the pheasant and duck hunting is within a 3-mile radius of our farm .
Our fully catered hunts include guides, dogs, lodging, meals, bird processing and field transportation as well as transportation to and from the airport. You are welcome to bring your well-trained hunting dogs with you. Reservations are a must and a deposit is required.
3 or 5-day fully catered hunts:

About Onida / Resorts, Hunting & Fishing / Business Directory/ Community Profile / Weather
Hello Hunters:
We have spring in Sully County and it is so much different from last year. We had 5.5 inches of rain in the last 24 days. We look like a garden.
With the open winter, the pheasants had little or no winter loss, so we have a ton of hens going into the nesting season. The nesting is going on now and with the perfect weather conditions, we will be in great shape next fall.
We are planning to add another 160 acres of CRP with the new sign-up and 18 acres of trees and three wildlife dams. This will make great places to hunt in itself. It takes more land to hunt wild birds all season long and this land will give us two hunts every week. We let things rest in between hunts.
We did control some predators last winter and this should help the deer and antelope.
Have a great spring.
